As state government realigns operations, its business needs change.  For example, it may become necessary to cancel a contract, renegotiate a lease, protect state records, reevaluate insurance requirements, or consolidate telecommunications services.   Leases, contracts, records, vehicles, insurance, computer applications, etc. are all assets that require effective management.

Realignment of critical assets place an additional burden on staff and may require expertise that is not readily available within your organization.  To assist state agencies through this critical period, the Department of General Services (DGS) has identified ways to offer its expertise to state agencies. 

 

DGS has formed an Asset Realignment Team to assist state agencies.  In addition, DGS has prepared an Asset Realignment Planning Tool/Survey and comprehensive Resource Guide to help state agencies with their realignment activities.  The IT Checklist may be helpful to agencies that need to rescale their information technology operations.
